Dannie-Lu Carr

Dannie-Lu Carr crafts genre-defying, narrative-driven music that blends punk, vaudeville, folk and new wave influences. Her lyrics explore complex themes with dark humour and candour. Her vocals are punchy and audacious.

Carr's debut album, Chunky Bitty Mermaid (produced by Sarah Gillespie, 2023) is an escapade of narrative music set in a dystopian future around a canal in London’s Hackney, following the tales of the protagonist - an algae covered mermaid caught in an oil spill.

Her follow-up EP, Epic Little Monsters (produced by John Nicholls, 2025) is a bold and innovative journey that blends her punk energy with socio-political lyrics and expressive, dark and witty storytelling.

Carr is a visionary polymath with a career spanning many disciplines; singer songwriter, actor, writer, poet, award-winning theatre director, an executive leadership coach (ILM L7), the founder of Flaming Leadership and a podcaster.

“Throughout, Carr channels the smoky vocals of Marianne Faithfull, the playful arrangements and organic rhythms of Pascale Comelade and the punky brass of Imelda May but … this journey is uniquely, authentically her own.”
